Spike Jonze premieres his latest work – I’m Here, a 30-minute short film – today at the Sundance Film Festival as part of the first-ever Opening Night’s Shorts Program at the festival. The film is a collaboration with ABSOLUT VODKA, and from the looks of this trailer, we won’t have to succumb to some cheesy, forced ad product. Jonze says Absolut “didn’t give me any requirements to make a movie that had anything to do with vodka. … I got to make my first love story. It’s about the relationship between two robots living in Los Angeles.”
The movie is set in contemporary L.A., where life moves at a seemingly regular pace with the exception of a certain amount of robot residents who love among the population. A male robot librarian lives a solitary and methodical life — devoid of creativity, joy and passion – until he meets an adventurous and free spirited female robot.
You know who was a pretty cool robot? That Rosie from the Jetsons. Love her. The full movie will show up at imheremovie.com in March.
